I have never heard of a con that has entry fees for their AMV contest O.o I'm sure that is a HUGE turn off to just about any AMV Editor.
I also can't find any information ANYWHERE on the site about the rules and regulations of this contest.
What formats you would like the files to be in, or any information as to what material is acceptable (lets welcome all the hentai and tenticle rape videos now? I'm sure the parents out there would love that...) How are you playing them... from a computer? or by burning them to DVD and using a DVD Projector? Are you going to disqualify entries that have subtitles from fansubs in them? is there ANY quality control at all in this contest or will you just take what you can get?
It wouldn't seem like you have advertised this any place where AMV Editors gather on the internet (and considering how close to the con it is, I could only imagine the pain it would be to screen several last minute entries now)...
I'm also very curious as to how many entries you have for the contest.
Anyways, I'm a local AMVer with lots of questions I'm sure, but there are a lot of questions to address in your contest. (Unfortunately I might not be making the con because I might going to be out of town, but if I'm around for next year I guess these sort of things should be answered... or if you guys actually make any improvements I might be interested in joining the contest).
My suggestion is to surf around and check out the rules for other conventions, and see how they are running their shows and decide on what you want for your show.
Also, on a personal note: I'm not a huge fan of "cash prizes"... I like trophies (especially unique ones like Sakura Con's Clapboard, or the Plaque I got from AMA a couple years ago) Swag is nice, but I've never gotten anything I was ever too excited over O.o
