I agree with Babelglyph about the con being in Killeen. Besides Keita created this con FOR killeen so it would be stupid to move it away from here.

Just cause a con isn't HUGE doesnt mean its not good, personally I like small cons like Animix. I mean at animix you could actually get close to the voice actors and the bands and become friends with them, I even went out to dinner with one eyed doll sunday after the con ended and at bigger cons its hard to get that close to guests at other cons.

I know alot of people even they HATE the Plaza they told me that they would rather deal with the plaza again then have animix move away from Killeen or be cancelled.

I never said Animix wasn't a good con. it's a great con.
I just think the main thing that should be changed is the venue. I saw a few posts themselves saying the growing attendee's for the con.
Just weaseling through the crowd in the small hallways between panel rooms and the artist alley was...well... not pleasant. Imagine next year when the attendee count can nearly double? omg, nightmare much???

I did notice the convention center in killeen... and while that may be pricier, it'll definitely appeal to more con-goers. I don't know... I didn't like the plaza. Especially the oven of hallways. and Cramped spaces.

But I'm here for any help! :)
I want to help animix anyway I can!

The large problem with the convention center, however, is that the waiting list is currently up to two years. And the Expo center wants a heck of a lot more money than the Plaza did, with a lot less actual usable rooms. So unless we can find a way to get Animix's name onto the list for the convention center without it being in the listings for 2011, that one's probably out...

Just a question: what about the Harker Heights Events Center? Has anyone been in it? Is it big enough for our con?

Geeze they're very picky. You have to use this guy for lighting in sound, or put down a $2000 deposit that will be refunded if there's no damage. Any vendors have to give the HHEC 20% of all sales. And you have to give the HHEC 150 tickets as additional compensation. >.> WTF? Nevermind about them.

I didn't read that far into the site, but I'm in agreement. That's them just being lame. Bugger them. Bugger them in the left earhole, says I. :P

Over the next few weeks, when I'm not job-hunting, I'll be scouting out hotels and seeing just how large any other ones are. We just might luck out and I find one that has a decent amount of space like the Plaza, but that doesn't feel compelled to keep trying to screw us. And if all the Killeen ones fail, well - Temple and Cove aren't that far away, and they've got hotels, too.

Yes the Con was made to be in Killeen so it shouldn't go anywhere.

Most of the suggestions that would change things drastically have already been posted, but I've got a more detailed idea for the walk-ons and skits.

Website: Yes it needs to be updated regularly!!! I asked my mother about being a walk-on or perhaps doing a skit, so we went to the website. Using our awesome skills of deduction we clicked on the 'Contests' tab. This tab we had figured would hold rules and regulations about the skits and walk-ons, but it didn't. I think that adding the rules for skits/walk-ons on this section would improve things greatly. Considering that I asked about the rules in an e-mail three months ago and never got a reply. I also waited for the rules to be posted on the forum, (even checked the day of the convention) but none had been posted.

Skits and Walk-on registration: There needs to be an assigned date for the registration for these events. Such as: Skits and walk-on registrations are available between such and such dates. Please remember that you can not register no later than such date. This would cut back on the craziness that over took the lobby on Saturday. Perhaps even adding the options of registering for skits and walk-ons on the regular registration forms would save time and space.

Skits and walk-on Time: The timing! While I know everyone wants to be crazy on the first day and get used to everything it would be much better if the head of the convention asked the staff and volunteers to gather up those that had registered for the the skits and walk ons to rehearse the timing and set up. That way there wouldn't be this mad scrabble for everyone to gather in the lobby. Also on the day OF the skits and walk-ons practice about an hour before so that way late arrivals that show up for this event only know what they're doing. (Again avoiding congestion and confusion in the lobby)

Space and Event management: It would be better for all those volunteers that were sitting about to enforce the time schedule so that way events weren't clustered together. I personally liked the other aforementioned ideas about the time for ending and set up. Space management is tough for the Plaza, but it could have been done so that way the hall way wouldn't have gotten clogged up. All it would require is a different placement of the tables. There was also a large space in the hallway as you're coming into the actual dealers hallway that could have been used for this purpose.

Sorry if somebody already posted all these ideas, or if they weren't all too clear. :/ As for the idea of a Yuri vs Yaoi tug o' war, I'm all for that! I liked the idea for events to be rated according to age as well. I know for a fact that most of our male guests cursed occasionally leaving me feel extremely akward if there were children roaming around. It was also hard to discuss anything with other age groups wandering near you, I'm a modest person deep down. Also I'd like to get in touch with Quinn because I have some questions and ideas for the Naruto panel. XD I be the Naruto that twas picked on. I want to help for next year that way I can be one of the offical demostrators. (I will not fail the test next year Quinn! >_<)>)) Revenge!!)

Agreed. If we do find a suitable hotel somewhere else and people in Killeen don't think they can come, we could make a ride-share forum here and advertise it on the main website so people could arrange rides to and from. I know I would be willing to take people in my car if I were here.

i think its fine in killeen, i dont mind the 3 hour drive to get up there and if it was in austin i probably wouldnt go... but this just popped into my head. I noticed at the con i was asked for my badge once! i mean i went in and out of the dealers room quiet often but seriously, i felt like it was a total waste of money i think you should have badges checked for more things just cause people will stop buying them and that is the main thing you guys want us buying right?

For some reason our Dealer Room badge checker kept disappearing. >.> And we actually keep an eye on people coming in through the front door of the hotel and if they don't have a badge we stop them.

i bet you guys had a lot more things on your mind, it being a new con and stuff but as you progress please keep this in mind :3 have people checked for the competition and when entering the panels maybe too. also the badges i could have bought one for friday and kept the same one for all weekend without people knowing. Maybe have different artwork for them? (i dont wanna be harsh .___. just ive been going just to huge cons that have been there for a while so im not trying to be mean :[ )
